Prescott Confluence Membership - Why Join?
We live in an age in which the dominant culture is fueled by the things many of us don't want. Multi-national corporations, environmentally unfriendly energy companies, unsustainable development practices and chemical manufacturers have created an ever larger impact in the world, yet seem to constantly erode the quality of life of people and many living things. Yet those very same activities create wealth for the few who benefit economically from this system. It is an old story that has been playing out for a couple centuries now. As long as we collectively play according to those old systemic rules, it will persist. So it is time to play by some new rules and make a new kind of music together.
The only way to "be the change" we want to see, is to support our own local community, leverage our collective resources and create the forms that may evolve into a healthier, more just future for the people and other living beings right here at home. We can only do this by first engaging in relationship with other and learn where our common needs and interests are. Then we can grow our "alternative" community, leverage our combined resources and support each other in this process. Eventually -- in the years to come -- this process may create better local food security, a healthier local environment and thriving local cottage industries.
But this can not happen unless we connect with each other first and support each other and those who bring us together. And that is why this alternative community network has been created, starting with the Prescott Confluence community calendar.
